Hi,
I'm building a CNC mill and was curious how the V890 PSU has worked for you? Can you recommend me to use it?
Best regards, Mikael

Hi Mikael,
i can recommend it, i had no technical issues with it whatsoever.
Although i have to say that the huge form factor was not ideal. Thank god it has a handle to carry it around.
I sold the Printer including the psu after ~ 3 Years, so i can't give you an update how it is holding up.
If you can get it for cheap - go for it.
Best regards, Hubert

Just one more question: Did you find a smart solution to connecting to the unique physical layout of the V890 PSU connector, or did you solder cables to the inside of the PSU?

Unfortunately i couldn't find the Connector that is in the Sun Server by itself. So i desoldered an ATX Connector from an old Mainboard and soldered it with short wires directly to the Pins sticking out of the PSU. Making sure that male/female direction is switched, so that nobody will ever be tempted to attach a Mainboard to it.
Also, i remember that i opened the case and included a Temperature Fan Regulator, this one to be precise: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Conrad-Components-117323-Temperaturgesteuerte-Lufter-Regelung-Bausatz-12-V-DC/362623582865?hash=item546e0cc291:g:RyYAAOSwHN9cxxL3
Although i can't recommend the junk that Conrad sells.. I'm not even sure that it worked because the Fan didn't switch on even once after that. More likely the Regulator just was not necessary. Even without the Fan running no significant Heat was generated. So, i suspect you could drop the Fan at all. Probably it's just there to keep the Server cool, not the PSU.
